Our comprehensive approach to assessment of pain is an in-depth analysis and review of health and history by our physicians. Chronic Pain has affected more than 70 million people in the United States alone. Defined as pain that recurs or persists for more than six months – chronic pain is a serious public health issue that has resulted in 40 million doctor visits, 515 million lost workdays and approximately $100 billion dollars in medical costs each year. Chronic pain can take a devastating toll on the millions of people it affects, and can lead to a lesser quality of life, low self-esteem, strained relationships and depression.

	Willem J. Nel, M.D.	Willem J. Nel, M.D. completed his residency in Anesthesiology at USF in 1999 and subsequently did a fellowship in advanced pain medicine and is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and pain medicine. Dr. Nel is currently practicing throughout the Tampa Bay area with Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. Division of Pain Medicine.
