In 1994, Devanand Mangar, M.D. organized a private practice group of anesthesiologists in the Tampa, Florida area. The program was based at Tampa General Hospital and provided anesthesia services to the Cardiovascular OR's. Tampa General Hospital is the only Level 1 Trauma Hospital in west central Florida and is one of the largest employers of the City of Tampa. Dr. Mangar is the Chief of Anesthesiology, Dept. of Anesthesia, Secretary - Treasurer for Medical Staff and Vice Chief of Staff for Tampa General Hospital further illustrating our group’s commitment and dedication to the Tampa Bay area and beyond. Since that time, the Group, Florida Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. and Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. have expanded from a core of seven cardiac anesthesiologist to over fifty anesthesiologists and forty-five certified registered nurse anesthetists. Today, FGTBA and GTBA have specialized providers for a scope of services including, Pediatric Anesthesia, Cardiac Anesthesia, Heart, Lung, Liver, Kidney Transplantation, Obstetrical Anesthesia, Critical Care Medicine and Pain Medicine. Our members are specialists in anesthesiology and are board certified (or in the certification process) by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

FGTBA and GTBA continue to be aggressive in their plans for future expansion, teamed with a desire to provide excellence in anesthesia care. In recent years, the group has expanded to over 20 bay area hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and medical offices, with additional locations in Indiana - resulting in a multi-state practice group. The leadership team here at FGTBA and GTBA, has plans to open several new locations over the next few years and continue the efforts of future expansion and growth with new staff.

This successful growth and commitment of the highest standards in anesthesia medicine over the last twelve years, has enabled our group to expand beyond the medical practice into a comprehensive teaching group for anesthesiology. Our partnerships and affiliations within the higher education community have resulted in relationships with Florida’s premier medical institution: University of South Florida College of Medicine

The USF College of Medicine, Tampa, Florida conducts a graduate medical education program in anesthesiology for resident physicians that afford clinical training and practice experience. Florida Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. and Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. is the exclusive practice training group for the USF College of Medicine - Anesthesia Residency Program providing the highest degree of training and clinical tutelage to all USF anesthesia residents.

Enrico M. Camporesi, M.D. joined Florida Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. and Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. as Professor of Physiology and Chair of the USF Anesthesia Residency Program on April 11, 2005. Dr. Camporesi was recruited by the educational program of USF in partnership with FGTBA and GTBA to create a new entrepreneurial model of the prestigious academic USF program and the private practice group of FGTBA/GTBA.

Florida Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. and Gulf-to-Bay Anesthesiology Associates, P.A. diversification helps to keep us current and advancing in the rapidly changing field of anesthesia. We are contracted with a large number of managed care organizations including, Medicare, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, point of service plans, exclusive provider organizations and many others serving enabling FGTBA and GTBA to serve the majority of the people in the Tampa Bay area and beyond.
